Pointe shoes question.?

Published by Jammy Sinclair on April 30, 2009

I don't have a area in my house that is really very good for my pointe shoes and then some parts are carpeted. I am working on getting a little thing to put over the carpet, but for now is it alright to use a yoga mat.
I would only use it for releves nothing really other than that.

A yoga mat is ok for now just don't do anything but releves or you might get hurt or twist an ankle, if your less experienced i would reccomend holding on to something for support

I've been dancing en pointe for about 4 years now. I wouldn't suggest using a yoga mat, and definitely not carpet. It would be very easy to twist your ankle.

i'm a pointe dancer myself & i would recommend you practice on a hardwood floor or you could get a laminated floor. I tried a yoga mat and I fell on my knee and now it is hurt badly.. so i wouldn't recommend you use that. you really want something that is going to support your ankle.

i've ruined shoes by dancing on anything besides hardwood or dance floors. please be careful. If you do work on yoga mats - — ONLY RELEVES! or you will ruin your shoes………
work on getting stronger tho. try to get a good floor to work on!
